Born in 1816 and died December 11, 1871. He married Hannah McLaughlin (1821 - 1892). Elisha Flaugh and his wife were natives of Ohio. They came to Jasper county, Iowa in 1845, when the country was wild and settlers few. It is believed that they entered land from the government and here they established a good home, after the usual hard work and discomfiture, and here spent the rest of their lives, reared a family and took a leading part in the county's affairs. Mr. Flaugh was a surveyor and, there being a great deal of this work done in his day, he was kept busy, though he managed to operate successfully his one hundred and sixty acre farm. He was a member of the first board of Jasper county supervisors, in January, 1861. He was chairman of the board in 1863 and 1871. Elisha Flaugh also served as an Iowa State Senator from 1864 to 1866 in the state district which included Jasper County, Iowa.
