Born in Knox county, Ohio, September 21st, 1816. He was married to Jan Coffey, December 3d, 1837. He became a member of the Protestant Methodist church in 1832. He commenced the study of medicine in Springfield, Ohio, in 1836 and was ordained a minister of the Gospel, 1838. Soon afterward he became identified with the Church of Christ. He was a member of the Senate of Iowa in 1863 and 1864. Was Chaplin of the 5th Iowa Cavalry after the Senate adjourned till the close of the war. He then came to Missouri, remaining there till 1872, when he came to Wilson county, Kansas.
