Born in 1823 at County Cork, Ireland. He immigrated to this county and has been a resident of Dubuque County for fifty-five years. He was well educated and recognized as one of the influential men of the county. He served as a member of the Board of Supervisors and he also served two terms in the lower house of the legislature.
