A prominent grain and livestock dealer in this community for many years and built the first grain warehouse in Columbus Junction. He was born, December 19, 1829 in Philadelphia and came to Iowa soon after his graduation from Antioch College. In addition to his grain and live stock interests, he was also interested in agriculture and has owned and operated a Louisa farm for many years. He was also interested in banking and was organizer and president of a National Bank, at Atchison, Kansas, in 1872. He also served with distinction two terms in the Iowa legislature. He was married to Miss Louisiana Ringer, December 19, 1859.
