Born July 15, 1844 in Jericho Vermont, son of Jonas and Betsy W. (Stroud) Day. He married in 1871 to Mary Howland. He attended public and private schools in Attica, Wisconsin, and graduated from Evansville (Wis) Academy 1862. Mr. Day read law and was admitted to the bar in Webster City, 1868. He then located in Emmet county and practiced law from 1868-1878. In Lanesboro, Fillmore county Minnesota he purchased the Freeborn County Standard in Albert Lea. Mr. Day served as deputy US collector of internal revenue in Webster City, county attorney in Emmet County, and member Iowa legislature 1870-1871. He enlisted as private in 13th Wisconsin Infantry in 1862 and served in Civil War until discharged on account of ill health 1863. He was President of the Minnesota Editorial Association, former president and vice president of the Albert Lea Building and Loan Association, President of Board of Park Commissioner, member of the City Charter Commission, Commercial Club and Masonic fraternity.
