Born in Clarksburg, Virginia, August 28, 1826. He emigrated to Iowa in 1847 and came to Winterset in 1854. He removed to Adel where he remained one year and returned to Winterset in the spring of 1856. In 1853 he was married to Mary A. Jenkins. He spent much of his life in general practice. Dr. Davis was always prominent in every public enterprise. Something of a politician, he represented the county in the 14th Iowa General Assembly, 1872. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
