Born near Orleans, Orange County, Indiana, August 29, 1830. He was united in marriage to Mary A. Riley, January 8, 1852. They moved to Jefferson county, Iowa, in March and came to Wayne county in the spring of 1853. He was a farmer by profession. He served as county treasurer of Wayne county and in 1872 he was elected representative in the legislature. Mr. Crawford was a member of the Methodist Church.
