Born in 1820 in Ohio. Came to Iowa from Ohio in 1849 locating in Linn County. He purchased the newspaper called "The Stiletto". In the spring of 1866 he sold it to his son who removed it to Shell Rock. Mr. Palmer trained as a millwright. He was the first judge from Butler county.
