Born in Ohio on Aug. 9, 1846. He was married December 8, 1870 to Miss Mollie Mayhew. When Mr. Yergey was a young man he was a very successful school teacher of this community, and there are a great many in this vicinity who went to school to him. At one time Mr. Yergey represented this county in the House of Representatives in Des Moines, 1888 and 1890. He resided in Villisca for several years.
