Born in Glasgow, Scotland, April 14, 1840, son of Thomas and Mary (Hamilton) Law. The family immigrated to Oneida County, New York in 1850. In 1857 they went to Portage City, Wisconsin where they lived for the next several years. Mr. Law moved to Iowa just after his married to Katherine E. Cook in 1863 and purchased land in Cerro Gordo County. In January 1883, he became a member of the banking firm of Secor, Law and Plummer. He was Winnebago county recorder from 1876-1878, and mayor of Forest City in 1881. He was elected to represent Winnebago County in the Twenty-third General Assembly, 1890.
