He is a Republican in politics. Of the secret societies he belongs only to the Ancient Order of United Workmen. Senator Garst is married. In the Senate two years ago he showed himself to be a good worker, especially in the committee rooms. He was chairman of the committee on public buildings and a member of the committees on appropriations, charitable institutions, schools, mines and mining, and commerce.
