Representative from Warren county. Born of American parentage in Vermlllion county, Illinois, and came with his parents to Warren county in the fall of the same year. Attended the graded schools until he was fourteen years old, when he entered the Tribune office as an apprentice, remaining in the office for more than seven years. Later published the Motor at Milo five years and a half, three years and a half in Arkansas, ten years and four months published the Louisa County Democrat at Wapello, Iowa, and January 1, 1902, returned to Indianola and purchased the Advocate-Tribune. At the Democratic State convention held at Waterloo in 1906 he was elected member of the Democratic State central committee from the Seventh Congressional District. Elected Representative in 1906. A Democrat in politics.
