Representative from Jones county. Born of American parents near the village of Onslow, Jones county, Iowa. His education was received in the rural schools, the high school at Wyoming and at Lenox College, from which institution he graduated in 1898. In college he took active part in all student affairs and for two years edited the college paper. The year following graduation he was employed as principal of schools at Coggon, and in 1899 elected county superintendent of Jones county, which position he held for seven years. He has been an active member of the Iowa State Teachers' Association, having served as president of the County Superintendents' Association and as a member of the educational council. Has often appeared on educational programs and has been a frequent contributor to the educational press. He expects to enter the legal profession in the near future. Elected Representative in 1906. A Republican in politics.
