Representative from Woodbury county, was born at Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, February 27, 1866. Came to Iowa in October 1883, and settled near Hawarden in Sioux county shortly afterwards, where he engaged in general farming, feeding and shipping of live stock and especially in the breeding and importing of shorthorn cattle, in which he is still actively interested. Married Helen J. Tibbets in 1889, and has four sons and two daughters. Moved to Sioux City in 1900. Is a member of the Episcopal church. Elected Representative in 1908. A Republican in politics.
