Representative from Wright county, was born in the town of Roxbury, Delaware county, New York, January 27, 1838, of Scotch descent. Received his education at the district school and the Delaware Literary Institute, and for several years followed the occupation of school-teaching in New York and New Jersey, coming to Iowa in 1881, buying land in Wright county, which he improved and continues to hold. Was for fifteen years cashier of the State Bank of Eagle Grove. Elected Representative in 1906, and re-elected in 1908. A Republican in politics.
