Representative from Cerro Gordo county, was born in Seward, Winnebago county, Illinois, February 6, 1870, of American parentage. His father and grandfather were soldiers in the Civil War and his great grandfather was a soldier in the War of the Revolution and was wounded at the battle of Bunker Hill. He was raised on the farm and attended the district school until he was sixteen years old. Then entered the Rockford, Illinois, High School, which he attended one year. Then worked in a drug store, studying by himself and with a preceptor until twenty years old, when he entered Rush Medical College, Chicago, Illinois. Graduated from this college when twenty-three years old and came immediately to Mason City, Iowa, and began the practice of medicine and surgery and has continued the same to the present time. Has held no office except that of health officer of Mason City and has not been a candidate for any. Was married in 1890 and has two daughters, thirteen and nine years of age. Owns a farm and manages it himself and maintains a herd of registered Shorthorn cattle. Elected Representative in 1906, and re-elected in 1908. A Republican in politics.
