Representative from Humboldt county, was born in Dane county, Wisconsin, in 1859. His parents were natives of Norway. At the age of ten years he moved to Iowa with his parents and settled in Emmet county, where they farmed until their death a few years ago. Attended the rural schools until 1875, when he entered the Luther College at Decorah, Iowa. Three years later finished the normal course of said college. Then engaged in teaching, devoting ten years to that profession in Emmet, Kossuth and Humboldt counties. From 1886 to 1892 was engaged in general mercantile and real estate business. For the last fourteen years has been connected with the State Bank of Bode as employee and officer. Owns several farms near Bode from which he derives most of his income. Was the first mayor of Bode and served fourteen years as school director. Is married and has seven children. Is a member of the Lutheran church. Elected Representative in 1906, and re-elected in 1908. A Republican in politics.
