Representative from Cedar county, was born near Warsaw, Indiana, May 20, 1849. His parents were American-born. In August, 1855, he came with his parents to Cedar county, Iowa, arriving in Tipton, September 3d. In the spring of 1858 the family moved on a prairie farm in Dayton township in Cedar county and engaged in farming. Was married in 1870 and has a family of four children. Has been engaged in farming all his life. Held the office of township assessor for six years; also served as township trustee and has been connected with the public schools of his township for the past fifteen years, at the present time being secretary of the school board. His education was secured in the rural schools, supplemented with study at home. Elected Representative in 1906 and re-elected in 1908. A Republican in politics.
