Representative from Warren county, was born in Allegheny county, Pennsylvania, November 19, 1855, of American parentage of Scotch-Irish descent. Both parents were born in Pennsylvania. He was reared on a farm and received a common school education. In the spring of 1887, removed to Indianola, Iowa, where he engaged in the abstract, real estate, loan and insurance business, which he has since followed. Was married October 10, 1905, to Miss Ethelda U. Nixon, of Page county, Iowa. Served two terms as alderman in Indianola. Elected Representative in 1910. A Republican in politics.
