Representative from Mills county, was born at Valparaiso, Porter county, Indiana, December 4, 1854, of American-born parents. When he was five years of age, the family moved on a farm. Received his education in the common schools, and at the age of nineteen entered the Indiana Normal School at Valparaiso, graduating from the commercial course. Went back to the home farm, remained there until he was twenty-five years old, when he went to southern Kansas and engaged in the stock business for three years. Was married to Miss Ettie M. Gaylord, February 7, 1881. Moved to Mills county, Iowa, in February, 1883. Family consists of his wife, one son and two daughters. Is engaged in farming. Elected Representative in 1910. A Republican in politics.
