Representative from Keokuk county, was born in that county, August 10, 1858. His father was of Scotch birth and his mother of English. They were married in Scotland and came to the United States in 1842. His father died in 1864 because of sickness contracted while in the Union Army and his mother died in 1865. Secured rural school education and worked on the farm at spare times. Was married in 1884 and has three children living. Owns a large farm in Keokuk county but lives in the city of Sigourney. Has served as township trustee, school director and councilman of Sigourney. Elected Representative in 1910. A Republican in politics.
