Followed the occupation of farming in New York until the year 1874, when he removed to Osceola county, Iowa, and engaged in the same work. Was secretary of the school board in his township for twenty-eight years and for six years was a member of the board of township trustees. Elected Representative in 1906, re-elected in 1908 and 1910. A Republican in politics.
