Representative from Iowa county, was born in western New York, February 9, 1855, of Scotch-Irish and English parentage. When three years old his parents moved to Williamsburg, Iowa, where, with the exception of six years in western Iowa, he has since lived. Worked on the farm and attended the common schools until he was nineteen years old. For one year he was a student at the University of Iowa. Taught school for two years at Onawa, Iowa. For many years he has been in the drug business. Has served on the board of supervisors, on the city council and for twenty-three years was a member of the school board. He has been a director in the Farmers Savings Bank since its organization in 1890. Elected Representative in 1910. A Democrat in politics.
