Representative from Taylor county, was born in Henderson county, Illinois, December 26, 1852, of native parentage. Educated in the common schools, Mt. Pleasant Academy and attended the University at Mt. Pleasant. Graduated from the commercial school at Mt. Pleasant. Moved to Iowa in September, 1875, and engaged in farming and the raising of fine stock. Was married in October, 1875, to Miss Emma G. Haskell of Monroe county and to them were born two children. His wife died in 1885. He married Miss Lizzie Brooks in 1887 and to them were born three children. His second wife died in January, 1911. He has served as justice of the peace, school director, school treasurer and township trustee at different times. Elected Representative in 1910. A Republican in politics.
