Representative from Webster county, was born March 2, 1852, in Green county, Wisconsin, of Scotch-Irish parentage. Was educated in the common schools and at Evansville Seminary. Moved to Fort Dodge in 1873. Taught school at Dayton, Gowrie and Lake City. Became deputy county treasurer of Webster county in 1878 and served four years and was then elected treasurer and served a like time. He was also county auditor for two years. Was connected with the First National Bank for three years and in June, 1891 organized the Commercial National Bank of which he is cashier. Elected Representative in 1910. A Republican in politics.
