Representative from Chickasaw county, was born in Alsace, France, April 25, 1855. Came to America in 1870, and located in Dupage county, Illinois, engaging in farming. Was married June 27, 1878, to Magdelina Backer. Moved to Iowa in 1880, locating on a farm near Lawler, Chickasaw county. Was on the board of supervisors of Chickasaw county for six years, serving five years as chairman. Elected representative in 1912. A democrat in politics.
