Representative from Wright county, was born in Henry, Illinois, January 27, 1853, of Scotch parentage. Attended the graded schools. Moved with his parents to Ft. Scott, Bourbon county, Kansas, in 1870, and remained there thirteen years, raising, buying and shipping cattle. Was married to Miss Flora Hiatt in March, 1883. They have three sons. Moved to a farm in Hand county, South Dakota, in the spring of 1883. Served as school clerk and township clerk for five years. Moved to Wright county, Iowa, in 1890, and has been actively engaged in farming ever since. Served two years as township assessor; is a member of the state board of directors of the Iowa Farmers' Grain Dealers' Association; a stockholder in the Citizens' Bank of Eagle Grove, Iowa; is a member of the Methodist church; also a member of the Masonic order. Elected representative in 1912. A republican in politics.
