Was married to Miss Effie Wassenar in 1888. Followed the occupation of farming for ten years, during which time he studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1897. Began the practice of law in Orange City, Iowa, where he still resides. Has been treasurer and member of the school board for the last seventeen years. Elected representative in 1908 and re-elected in 1910 and 1912. A republican in politics.
