Representative from Sac county, was born near Belfast, Ireland, January 12, 1857, of Scotch-Irish parentage. Came to the United States and to Iowa in 1874. Attended the common schools and the Northern Illinois College at Fulton, Illinois. Moved to Sac county in 1886. Served as clerk of the district court four years and was a member of the board of trustees of the Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts from 1897 to 1909. Is engaged in the business of a retail lumber merchant. Has been chairman of the republican county central committee of Sac county, president of the Sac City Chautauqua Association, president of the Sac City Library board and president of the Sac county Y.M.C.A. Elected representative in 1910 and re-elected in 1912. A republican in politics.
