Representative from Guthrie county, was born in Salem, Indiana, November 5, 1862, of American parentage. Moved with his parents to Illinois in 1873, where he farmed until 1890. Since 1892 he has been engaged in farming, the length of his residence in Iowa being twenty-three years. He received his education in the public schools of Indiana and Illinois. Is active in the Iowa Corn Growers' Association and has served as its president. He is intensely interested in all measures calculated to improve agricultural conditions, and his especial interest lies in the rural school problem. Was married to Miss Hattie Hoover King in 1892. To them has been born one son. Is a Mason and a member of the Woodman order. Elected representative in 1912. A republican in politics.
