Representative from Floyd county, was born on a farm near Libertyville, Lake county, Illinois, December 21, 1861, of American-born parents. Moved with his parents to a farm near Dundee and Elgin, Illinois, where he secured his education in the public schools and the high school at Dundee. He also attended an academy. Moved to Iowa in 1880 and purchased a farm near Rockford. Since residing in Iowa he has engaged in farming and shipping of grain and live stock. He has also engaged in the real estate business. Has served as justice of the peace and township trustee. Has always taken an active interest in lodge and society work in his home town and county. Was married to Miss Myrtle N. Crissey of Marengo, Illinois, in December, 1884. Elected a representative in 1910. Re-elected in 1912. A Baptist in religion and a republican in politics.
