Representative from Wapello county, was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, fifty years ago, his father and mother having been born in Ireland. Was educated in the common schools and attended college at Quincy, Illinois. Was engaged in the mercantile business in Eldon, Iowa, until 1893, when he was appointed postmaster, which office he held until 1897. Married Leona May Allen of Atlantic, Iowa, in 1898. Was elected mayor of Eldon in 1905. Elected representative in 1912. A democrat in politics.
