Representative from Mills county, was born on a farm in Windsor, Dane county, Wisconsin, March 8, 1849. His father, a Baptist clergyman, was born in Windsor, Vermont. His mother was born in Herkimer county, N.Y. He was educated at Wayland Academy, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, removed to Boone county, Iowa, in 1867, and from there removed to Malvern, Iowa, in 1870, where he has since resided and is at present engaged in farming and stock raising. Was married December 23, 1875, to Hannah A. Summers. Six sons were born as a result of this union, all of whom are now living. Was elected to membership in the thirty-sixth general assembly in 1914. A republican in politics.
