Representative from Wright county, was born in Albany county, N.Y., July 16, 1849. Moved with his parents to Rock county, Wisconsin, in 1857, and from there to DeKalb county, Illinois. Received his education in common and graded schools. October, 1866, moved to Ackley, Hardin county, Iowa. January 1, 1874, was married to Miss Sarah Bolender of Ackley. Was mayor of Ackley, also recorder of Hardin county. Located at Belmond, Iowa, in spring of 1887, engaging in the handling of real estate and farm loans. Now in the mercantile business; also making a specialty of farm loans. Elected representative November 3, 1914. Was sergeant-at-arms of the senate, thirty-third and thirty-fourth sessions. A republican in politics.
