Representative from Cedar county, was born in Scott county, Iowa, on a farm in 1868. Attended country school and academy at Wilson Junction, Iowa. Graduated in 1890. Taught school and was engaged as a merchant at Sunbury, Iowa, from 1893 to 1899. Was superintendent of Lowden schools 1899-1900. Cashier of Lowden Savings Bank in 1900, which position he has held ever since. A democrat in politics.
