Representative of Dickinson county, was born in Mitchell county, Iowa, January 10, 1868; moved with his parents to a farm near Milford, Dickinson county, at the age of fourteen years. His education was limited to that procured during the winter months in the rural schools of his native state. He was married December 12, 1893, to Miss Cora Miller of Bradford county, Pennsylvania, and to them have been born two children, a son and daughter. In 1898 he was elected sheriff of Dickinson county, in which office he served for thirteen years. October 28, 1909, he was elected a member of the board of directors of the First National bank of Spirit Lake. Elected representative in 1912. Re-elected in 1914. A republican in politics.
