Representative from Adams county, was born in Adams county, Illinois, December 14, 1856, of Scotch-Irish parents. Lived with his parents in Fulton and McDonough counties and attended the public and high schools in Bushnell, Illinois. Removed to Taylor county, Iowa, March, 1877, and from there to Adams county, Iowa, in 1903, where he has since resided. Was married April 5, 1879, to Miss Catherine Soutter and has three sons, and two daughters. Helped organize the Farmers National Bank of Corning, Iowa, of which he is a director, and vice-president. Is a member of the Methodist church. Elected representative in 1914. A democrat in politics.
