Representative from Johnson county was born in Iowa City, Johnson county, Iowa, August 5, 1880. His parents were William Philip Coast and Mary Ellen Coast, who were pioneers of the state of Iowa. William Philip Coast was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and moved to Iowa when he was thirteen years old. Mary Ellen Bradshaw was born in Knightstown, Indiana, and came to Iowa in her infancy. Attended Iowa City public schools, Michigan Military Academy and State University of Iowa, class of 1902. Married Maude C. Kingsbury, October 24, 1904. They have two daughters. Major of the University cadets 1900 and 1901. President of Iowa City Commercial Club, 1913 and 1915. Member of State-Wide Publicity Commission of the Associated Advertising Clubs of Iowa, 1914. Elected representative, 1914. Republican in politics.
