Representative from Louisa county, was born near Morning Sun, Iowa, February 19, 1861. His father was born in New York and came to Iowa in 1840. His mother was born in Indiana. Educated in the common schools, Morning Sun Academy, and Elliott's Business College, Burlington, Iowa. He is a farmer and breeder of Short Horn cattle. He was born on the farm where he now resides, his father having entered a part of it from the government in 1844. Has been assessor of his township for eleven years. Has taken a leading part in farmers' institute work, making a special study of Short Horn cattle. Married December 22, 1885, to Miss Anna J. Wilson. Is a member of the United Presbyterian church. Elected representative in 1914. Re-elected in 1916. Republican in politics.
