Representative from Palo Alto county, was born near Stavanger, Norway, on the 7th day of December, 1857. Immigrated to Columbia county, Wisconsin, in the spring of 1880. He finished the graded school in Norway and attended the Hauges Ev. Lutheran Seminary at Red Wing, Minn. In the year 1883 he took up the study of Theology at Augsburg Ev. Lutheran Seminary in Minneapolis, Minnesota, wherefrom he was graduated in 1887, and was ordained the same year on a call from the Lutheran church, Ruthven, Iowa, in which place he still serves. Married Miss Anna Osterhus of Fayette county. He was elected representative from Palo Alto county in 1914 and his politics have always been republican. Re-elected in 1916.
