Representative from Madison county, was born in Holmes county, Ohio, October 7, 1864. Moved with his parents to Henry county, Illinois, in 1866, and to Penn township, Madison county, Iowa, in 1869. This has been his residence ever since except for seven months spent on a claim in Colorado. Was educated in the rural public schools and a short year in the Dexter normal school. Taught eight terms of country school. Has served as school secretary of Penn township for twenty-six years. Served a term as member of the board of supervisors of Madison county. Was married to Miss Mattie B. Pace, August 25, 1891. A farmer and stock raiser, a member of I.O.O.F. and a member of the Presbyterian church. A democrat in politics.
