Representative from Allamakee county was born on a farm in Ludlow township, Allamakee county, March 9, 1868, of German parentage. He attended the rural schools near his home and for two winters attended college at Waukon, Iowa. Was married to Miss Lena Wittenberg of Wisconsin in 1902. His chief occupation has been farming, but for six years was township assessor, prior to his election to the legislature in 1912. Was a member of the Thirty-fifth general assembly. Re-elected in 1914 and 1916 to the Thirty-sixth and Thirty-seventh general assemblies. Republican in politics.
