Representative from Howard county, was born near Manlius, Onondaga county, New York, November 15, 1858. At the age of eleven years he came with his father to Howard county, Iowa. In youth he was accustomed to labor on the farm incident to those pioneer days. Received his education in the public schools. On November 15, 1881, he was married to Delia C. Miller and has one son, who carries on the farm "The Oaks." He served nine years as member of the board of supervisors, five of which he was chairman. He has until recently been actively engaged in farming. A member of the M.W.A. and Masonic order and Congregational church. Elected representative in 1918. A democrat in politics.
