Representative from Washington county, was born in Albemarle county, Virginia, August 3, 1852, of Scotch-Irish parents. Moved to Mineral county, West Virginia, in 1874. Came to Washington county in 1875 and engaged in farming and stock raising until 1911, when he moved to Washington, Iowa. Was married to Winnie Davis at Wayland, Iowa, February 15, 1882, and has one daughter. Has served as director of Farmers Mutual Insurance company fourteen years, nine of which he was president. Served twenty-one years on the school board; township trustee six years; justice of peace; member of board of stewards M.E. church nine years; an Odd Fellow. Was elected representative in 1918. A democrat in politics.
