Representative from Dickinson county, was born at Delhi, Iowa, January 1, 1858. Educated in public school. With the exception of three years spent in New York state, from 1876 to 1879, has lived in Iowa all his life. Was in Ida county 1879 to 1880, where he worked on farm summers and taught school winters. Farmed in Delaware county during 1881. Moved to Dickinson county in 1882. Farmed eight years. Married Miss Jennie E. Jones, March 16, 1886. Have no children. Moved to Milford in 1890, where he has since resided. Was appointed postmaster July 1, 1897, and served twelve years. Was member of city council many years. Has been in the real estate business since 1900. Elected representative in 1916, re-elected in 1918. Republican in politics.
