Representative from Cass county, was born in Bureau county, Illinois, November 17, 1867. His father was born in New York state and his mother in Illinois. He first came to Iowa in 1881, at the age of 14 years, but graduated from Wyanet, Illinois, High School in 1888. He taught school for a number of years after which he purchased a farm near Anita where he has made his home for the last twenty years. He married Roma S. Houck of Anita in 1891. They have four living children, three boys and one girl. He was appointed postmaster of Anita in 1911, and served four years and one month. He is trustee of the Masonic and Eastern Star lodges, and serving his ninth year as member of the Anita school board. Elected in 1916, re-elected in 1918. A republican in politics.

He first came to Iowa in 1881, at the age of 14 years, but spent part of the time thereafter in attending high school at Wyanet, Illinois, from which he graduated in 1888. He immediately thereafter came to Cass county, where, with the exception of one summer in Montana, he has resided ever since. He taught school for a number of years after which he purchased a farm near Anita where he has made his home for the past eighteen years. He married Roma S. Houck of Anita in 1891. They have four living children, three boys and one girl. He was appointed postmaster of Anita by President Taft in 1911 and served four years and one month. He is a member of the Masonic and Eastern Star lodges at present being a trustee of both orders. He is serving his ninth year as member of the Anita school board. A republican in politics.
