Was elected representative in 1906, re-elected in 1908, 1910, and 1918. Is a democrat in politics.

Representative from Dubuque county, was born on a farm in Grant county, Wisconsin, February 5, 1861, of German parentage. Resided in that section until reaching his majority. In 1886 located in city of Dubuque. For the next four years he was engaged in several occupations, chiefly that of a stationary engineer and as a lime burner. In 1905 was elected business agent for the Teamsters' Union, Local 567, I.B. of T. of Dubuque, of which union he was president for three years, and for the past four years secretary-treasurer and business agent. Has been president of the Dubuque Trades and Labor Congress for six years, and is district organizer of the American Federation of Labor. Has for years been an active worker in labor circles. Elected Representative in 1906, re-elected in 1908 and 1910. A Democrat in politics.

From that year until 1891 worked as a day laborer in Dubuque, and for the succeeding time was employed as teamster. In 1905 was elected business agent for the Teamsters' Union, Local 567, I. B. of T. of Dubuque, of which union he was president for three years, and for the past two years secretary-treasurer and business agent. Has been president of the Dubuque Trades and Labor Congress for four years, and is district organizer of the American Federation of Labor. Has for years been an active worker in labor circles. Elected Representative in 1906 and reelected in 1908. A Democrat in politics.

Representative from Dubuque county. Born on a farm in Grant county, Wisconsin, of German parentage. He lived in this vicinity, doing farm work, until he was twenty-one years of age. Subsequently he worked on farms in Iowa and the Dakotas. In 1886 he permanently located in the city of Dubuque. During his residence in Dubuque, from 1886 to 1891, he was a day laborer and was for two years employed as stationary engineer in a local factory, after which he was a teamster until two years ago. In 1904 he was elected business agent for the Teamsters' Union, Local No. 567, I.B. of T. of Dubuque, Iowa, of which local union he has been president for the last three years. Has been president of the Dubuque Trades and Labor Congress for two years and district organizer of the American Federation of Labor. He has always been active in labor circles. Elected Representative in 1906. A Democrat in politics.
