Representative from Adams county, was born at Berlin Heights, Erie county, Ohio, February 13th, 1873. Moved to Iowa with his parents in the fall of 1881 where he resided on a farm. Attended rural school in the winter. In 1892 and 1893 attended high school at Greenfield, Iowa, and Simpson College in 1894. Until 1905 was engaged in farming and teaching in the rural schools in the winter time. Was married to Miss Sarah Vanvleet, September 29th, 1898, have five children. In 1905 engaged in the implement business which pursuit he still follows. Held the office of justice of peace two terms. He is president of the board of education at Corning, Iowa. Elected in 1918. A democrat in politics.
