Representative from Greene county, was born on a farm in Greene county, of American parentage, in 1884. He lived on this farm until seventeen years of age, attending rural schools. At the age of eighteen, he entered Des Moines College academy. From here he went to Brown University, Providence, R.I., and completed his junior year there. At the death of his father in 1912, he returned home to Churdan, Iowa and engaged in the banking business, left by his father, in which business he is still engaged. He was married to Clara Olevia Northrop of Boone, Iowa, June 24, 1918. A republican in politics. A member of the Baptist church. Elected representative in 1918 and reelected in 1920.
