Representative from Page county, was born in Martin county, Minnesota, May 19, 1872, and came to Taylor county, Iowa, with his parents in 1874, received his education in the common schools and the Iowa state college at Ames. He taught school for twelve years in the rural and graded schools of southern Iowa and northern Missouri. He was married December 25, 1902, to Anna E. Hamm of Shambaugh, Iowa. They have six children, Harold, Stanley, Fred, Lavaun, Jacob and Elcy. They moved to Page county in 1906 and settled near Clarinda. He has been engaged in farming and stock raising since 1906. Elected representative in 1920. A life-long republican.
